About SCWD

Founded in the 1930s, South Coast Water District (SCWD) supplies potable water, recycled water, and wastewater services to residents, visitors, and businesses in South Orange County, California. 

Guided by their strong customer service standards and environmental stewardship initiatives, SCWD is committed to providing safe, reliable water to millions of people each and every year. 

The challenge

Before Claromentis, SCWD used a plethora of disconnected tools, including shared drives, email, website pages, and stand alone solutions. There was no single access point, no mobile-friendly intranet, and no cohesion. This made it difficult for employees to access important communications and connect with their colleagues.

But this was only the tip of the iceberg. Underneath the surface, SCWD had to contend with a much larger technical problem.

Their mismatch of tools lived on an outdated server that lacked support. Even the smallest of changes required serious hands-on effort from the team, which negatively impacted morale and productivity levels. To make matters worse, this server was scheduled for decommissioning.

  • People — for finding experts quickly and facilitating cross-site connections. 
  • Mobile app — for providing field teams with access to the SCWD intranet and resources.

The outcome 

SCWD went from a dysfunctional, patched together tech stack to a modern, centralized digital workplace. Teams can access the platform on any device, no matter where they’re stationed, and quickly find the information they need to deliver superb services.
