Claromentis deploys Quality Management System in South Africa
Ekurhuleni West College (EWC) one of the leading Further Education and Training Institution in South Africa. Spread across 6 geographical location with 550 numbers of staff, EWC offers training and development programme in Engineering, Business, ICT, Finance and Community Services
It is the second Public FET Collegae in Gauteng to obtain SO 9001: 2000 certificate from the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) in 2008.
In order to continue maintaining high standards EWC has chosen Claromentis Quality Manager solution. They have developed a Quality Management web portal, which can be easily accessed from all campus location, and it has become a one-stop-shop system to find up-to-date policies and procedures. EWC also uses InfoCapture application to track and manage non-conformances.

It’s always great to see how a client implements Claromentis. I think it’s a testament to the flexibility of our framework that a system like this can be implemented so easily and yet make such a significant impact on our client’s internal processes.
If you consider they were using Powerpoint as an interface to access hundreds of Policies, I think it’s a great indicator of how good interface design does make a difference.
EWC also use our Publish Application and Document Smart Objects to ensure that there are several ways for uses to easily find the documents and information that they are looking for.
The EWC project has been hugely successful so far due to the dedication and focus of the EWC Quality Manager and IT Manager who are managing the project. Their ability to focus on the main objectives of the project and not to become distracted with all of the bells and whistles offered by the software has ensured that Phase 1 of their project is very efficient and rewarding to all. The project began with a 3 day on-site workshop; to train, consult, configure and assist with the creation of a platform that would enable them to achieve all of their Phase 1 objectives – as well as ensuring the system was scalable to accommodate all of their future requirements.
Phase 2 will be to introduce some of the bells and whistles like fully populated content pages for each Key Performance Area, campus maps and details, sharing staff skills, image maps, forums and discussion areas, shared calendars and events etc….
This is an exciting project for Claromentis and EWC and we very much look forward to continue working closely with EWC to ensure they get the most from the software.
And I have my fingers crossed that I can go back to provide some additional training and to play with those white lion cubs again
