The DAL (Database Abstraction Layer) is an application programming interface which unifies the communication between Claromentis business logic and 3 different databases - MySQL, MSSQL and Oracle.
The great advantage this provides our clients is that they can select whichever of these databases that they prefer. This will normally be driven by a combination of:
- Existing back up procedures
- In house technical expertise where the customer provides technical support to the users
- The cost or availability of licenses of MSSQL or Oracle
Whichever of these databases is chosen Claromentis fully supports it, and exactly the same business functionality is available for the users.
