Yes - in principle the same start up costs apply - and one of these elements is design. It is true however that some smaller companies that select SAAS have a smaller project scope, so we can use a relatively standard design if that is all that is required to meet their needs - with a consequent saving in costs.

No not really - there is an additional service cost to achieve active directory integration with your AD server if we are in the cloud, but our functionality is identical across the deployment options.

No - it is a commercial product with a full support offering. However it is coded in PHP which is a language that the open source community embraces - so it is easy to find developers that can extend the framework as needed.
