Even completely custom designs only require two days of our time. We work on photoshop and allow as many feedbacks and change cycles as the customer needs to get to a perfect implementation for their needs - only on sign off do we build the interface. In terms of elapsed time - which I think is the intent of your question - this can take from 3 days to 3 weeks depending how fast your client is!

Pretty much so - yes. We offer completely custom design services - or you can select a system you like and we can make minor refinements to it.

The first thing we need to think about is the overall look and feel. Clients requirements often vary, below are three common scenarios
a) We have a strict branding guide that we wish to follow, it's important for our intranet to be consistent with our corporate brand.
Not a problem! Please send over your branding guide and any artwork that could be useful to the design such as logos, corporate stock images, example designs or anything else you feel might be appropriate.
b) We have a corporate brand but wish to create a separate identity for our intranet.
No problem, we need to establish some sort of brief. If you have a company logo please send it over, it can be adapted and incorporated. We will send you some example designs to get your creative juices flowing. Also any ideas in general you may have to get us thinking, words such as clean, user friendly, fresh, fun, bright, light, funky, corporate often crop up but of course feel free to use your imagination. You can also send us links to websites you like the look of - often clients will do this just to highlight things such as colour palates they like.
c) We don't know what we want, we just know we need something…
Again, not a problem - we are here to take you through the process and ensure you get a great intranet design that will cater for your needs. This is a similar process to the previous scenario as we are going for something new. We will send you examples of previous designs to get you thinking. You can pick and mix (within reason!) bits and pieces you like from the mock-ups. Send us examples of websites if you like and have a think about what it is from particular examples that you like. Try and put this into a brief, as before words such as clean, user friendly, fresh, fun, bright, light, funky, corporate often crop up.

This is a process that involves both clients and designers so can vary depending on a few factors. We will aim to get a mock-up over within 1-2 weeks depending on how much help is needed in creating a brief. Once the client has the mock-up we don't start the build process until we have sign off. Some clients can be very quick to respond and others can be too busy to get back to us straight away. This is not a problem it just inevitably impacts the time frame. Sometimes the design is so great we get a thumbs up straight away (this is our favourite scenario)! Other times we may create up to two or three versions of the mock-up to make sure we are giving the client what they want. Design is sometimes an organic process that requires alterations and thought through out the process to get it right. This again is not a problem, it's what we are here for! Once signed off the build can take 1-3 days depending on the complexity of the design.

Yes - in principle the same start up costs apply - and one of these elements is design. It is true however that some smaller companies that select SAAS have a smaller project scope, so we can use a relatively standard design if that is all that is required to meet their needs - with a consequent saving in costs.
