Intranet Eforms and misunderstandings
November 10th, 2008
We have always been careful to acknowledge that customisable intranet solutions are an area where terminology can create confusion for the customer.
But as soon as you add e-forms – to enable paper based processes to go online – the possibility misunderstandings and the need for patient listening and careful explanations becomes much more acute.
It just seems that there is so much potential for a natural disconnect. Customers might be under the perception that :
* Forms are documents
* E-forms are just like web forms
* All paper based processes should be automated instead of those that deliver value if they are moved online.
None of these are true.
Fortunately we have the staff to listen, to be advocates, and to explain what we can deliver.
Which of course is why one of our 5 core values is clarity!
It’s really not easy to decide if an existing business process is appropriate for a transition to e-forms. InfoCapture is capable of managing a huge array of business processes, providing automation within the processes that just weren’t possible using a paper based solution. However, it’s important not to get carried away and convince yourself that every business process can be managed efficiently and effectively using InfoCapture.
Each process should be identified individually and the requirements of each should be compared against the functionality that InfoCapture offers. To an experienced InfoCapture configurator, it’s relatively simple to calculate if InfoCapture is appropiate or not, so if you are ever in doubt, just ask! All InfoCapture related questions should be sent to Support@claromentis.com, marked with a subject of “InfoCapture Question”.
