A Very Merry Claromentis Christmas

December 19th, 2011

Here at the Claromentis office we have been very busy preparing for the festive season. With determination and vigour, industrial quantities of tinsel and fairy lights were purchased in a bid to win the sought-after ‘best decorated Claromentis department award, Christmas 2011’. With many departments amalgamating in an effort to maximise their festive presence, we now have an office that can only be described as Santa’s grotto. The only thing our office now lacks is Santa Clause himself.

Our short, super jovial, very rotund santa .. mmm

Additionally, a new office Christmas tree was purchased with the intention of it being a superlative tree, perhaps even one of the finest trees in Brighton. However, once it had been removed from its box we soon discovered that, like many of the Claromentis employees, it had over-indulged in the season’s festivities and occasionally toppled over. Whilst equilibrium is a continued battle, so too is its need for a few more branches. Or maybe even a hug. As a Christmas treat, staff were treated to a session of go-karting which was tremendous fun.

After a couple of laps and a few red flags, we soon realised that it was not a game of bumper cars. The festive cheer and celebrations didn’t end there as we were treated to an exquisite meal.

With everyone well fed and the wine flowing freely, we were presented with personalised certificates and they were the icing on the cake. All the staff at Claromentis would like to say a special thank you to Hilda, Nigel and Mike for their tremendous team spirit.

Ricardo in full flow!

Also a big thank you to Ricardo for organising the whole event!

The power of information

December 12th, 2011

As I scrolled down our intranet news feed, I came across published articles regarding new and existing client projects, articles containing important information regarding new software features, and even an article containing a link to a population calculator. Needless to say I was quite intrigued by these articles and according to the population calculator, I was the 5,182,843,237th person born.

While I do have doubts as to whether or not this statistic was indeed accurate, I soon realised that this simple news system had provided me with a wealth of important information, within a matter of seconds.

One of the biggest challenges faced by organisations on a daily basis is their ability to effectively communicate with their employees – this somewhat underestimated tool provides organisations with an extremely effective solution to this challenge.

We have updated our news system for our upcoming software release (Claromentis 7) to ensure that this tool will help organisations improve service levels, aid business growth, enhance communication and enable important information to reach the correct audience.

Here’s an article from the current Claromentis News System

Here is an example of the new style and layout of the upcoming Claromentis 7 News System, and it still contains all of the great features associated with our current news system.

Much discussion about the infobar!

December 6th, 2011

We have been discussing, debating and deliberating over the design and functionality of the new Claromentis 7 infobar over recent months. We are delighted to say that our hard work has resulted in an infobar that we are exceptionally proud of. It may not seem like a major feature but we experience great satisfaction, excitement and pride when designing products that we believe will enhance the user experience.

With its elegant design and intelligent functionality, we’re sure you are going to love the new infobar too!

Christmas Intranets!

December 2nd, 2011

Weird things are happening in the Claromentis office!

The support team are so full of energy that Christmas trees have been subject to a strange electrostatic effect and have stuck to the ceiling

Those of us old enough to remember the David Bowie ‘Glass Spider’ concerts have a trip down memory lane around the developers desks..

Meanwhile a 40 inch monitor has caught fire in a great impersonation of a welcoming fireplace – providing that stoker Ricardo remembers to move his mouse every so often!

Intranet software for movie production companies

December 2nd, 2011

We really should talk more about our customer base and how Claromentis is making a real difference for so many types of businesses around the world.

As we continue to grow we in sales and marketing need to pedal faster just to keep up with our customer base and all the interesting ways they are using information management, web processes and custom applications to make a real difference in what they can accomplish and how competitive they can be.

One way we can do that faster peddling is just to post about events that generate real interest in our own internal corporate social networking about new clients – if our staff are fascinated then maybe you will be!

Internally we use both News channels and our Innovate application – and I noticed that the news today that Twilight producer Summit Entertainments LLC had selected Claromentis to become their intranet supplier generated a lot more interest – and requests from all the girls to be part of the onsite team in Hollywood – than any recent post about new clients.

This lead me to think about sectors – and taking this as an example we do have great examples of movie producers that use the Claromentis framework for their internal communications.

Let’s take two – Omnilab in Australia and our new client Summit Entertainment in California. Opposite ends of the world, and judging by my very limited experience producers of very different movie experiences.

Disclosure at this point – I am 50-something, male and really like walking my dogs. I also have limited interest in vampires.

Twilight

Their external image could perhaps be represented like this – with every girl in our office leaping up and down about Twilight, and myself having really enjoyed Happy Feet – an animation about penguins that like to dance:

Happy Feet

Not a lot of similarity in that external face to the world..

What I am planning to do in a future post is get both of these great movie production companies to allow me to share images of their intranets – it would be so much fun to share their internal comms with their external production!

Do Summit have dreamy girls on their intranet pages? Does Omnilab have animated cartoon figures as signposts on the intranet?? Or great sound tracks?

Does either company walk the talk when it comes to internal communication?

We shall see!!
