Image Management Software

The Image Gallery allows a group of users to have access to a set of corporate images which are stored in Albums. Albums are controlled within the Image Gallery application by a set of permissions which are used throughout the Claromentis system.

Whilst browsing the albums you have access to, you may select any number of images and add them to your lightbox for download. The lightbox is similar to a briefcase or download cart. Whenever you chose an image you can select which resolution to download it and Claromentis will automatically resize it for you.

The application is designed to control and deliver a selection of images for the corporate environment ensuring consistancy through out the organisation whether they are being used for brochureware or web pages.

The Image Management application is included in both document manager and intranet manager.

Use of Metadata

Using the universal metadata dedicated administration panel, as many sets of metadata as needed can be easily defined for Images. These consist of as many fields as you need to describe the images - supported and available field types are as follows :

• String
  Simple text useful to describe something wit your own text entry, for example: name of the agency that produce the artwork.
• Long text
  Larger text area, could be used to add a more extensive description about the image
• Integer
  Whole numbe entries only.
• Checkbox
  Simple checkbox for either single or multiple selections of field values.
• Datetime
  Date and time field, useful to describe when the image is created or when it is uploaded.
• Date
  Date field, useful to describe when the image is created or when it is uploaded.
• Select (options)

    A Select field provides a multiple list in a drop down format of multiple field values where you may select one of these values, for example: category of image: manufacturing, Science, Business, people etc.
  • Radio buttons
    Radio buttons allows you to select one of the options, for example: Married, Unmarried; here you can select only one option from the list.
  • Multiple Select
    A Multiple Select field provides a multiple list in a drop down format of multiple field values, where you may select multiple field values, for example: category of image: manufacturing,  Science, business, people etc but image of people in business so both are selected.
  • Checkboxes
    Checkboxes allows you to select more than one options for the list provided, for example: Your hobbies: Reading, Dancing, Cooking, Singing; here you can select more than one hobbies.
• Reference to document
  This feature allows you to navigate to a location in the document store and create link to a document for reference.
• Hyperlink
  This allows you to enter an internal or external address and displays as a link to the users.
• User Select
  This feature allows you to select a user.

There are also properties for each metadata field tghat control their behaviour. These are :

• Default values
  Set default values for the field (if any)
• Editable by users
  Edits can be applied by users
• Repeatable
  A new line item is displayed when ever it is updated.
• Can be inherited from parent
  Applicable to documents only
• Visible
  To make the field visible
• Visible even if no value
  This is otherwise known as implicit, the field will be shown despite a value not being entered

Fields that already exist in one metadat set can easily be attached to others, without having to redefine them.

Creating and using Albums

Albums can be created that are permissioned sets of images with aprorpiate metadat sets applied to the images.

Uploading and Downloading Images

Adding images equires the correct permissions, either at the Album level or through the administration panel.

When images are added the system will display the required metadata fields for the user to complete.

If you wish resolutions can be changed depending on the useage intended. For example to change the format / resolution of the image for example: a bmp format for brochures could be 2mb and you need to resize the image to something more suitable for use with web pages such as 50 kb.

Follow these simple steps to change the download resolution:

• Click on the actual image for the Album
• Adjust the resolution from the select field beneath the image displayed
• Select whether to “Add to Lightbox”, “Download Image” or “View”

Image Light Box

Image Gallery provides a complete lightbox functionality. These can be shared with others or used as temporary placeholders as mini collections are built up prior to download.

Image Collections

Users can build up and save their own labelled image collections, for example when looking for all images with people at the workplace.

Image Components

Claromentis provides a templater component for Image Gallery, to allow the rapid display of the most recent images anywhere required within Claromentis.
